Smart Film Installation in Santa Monica, CA

Keep the light and the view. Add privacy with a switch.

Santa Monica gets a lot of daylight, and its buildings are built to use it. Glass-fronted offices, full-height conference rooms and beach-adjacent homes with wide sliders all work beautifully until someone needs a closed door that is not actually closed. Aura Smart Film supplies switchable smart film and installs it on suitable existing glass, so the same pane can be transparent for most of the day and frosted for the fifteen minutes that need it.

The film is a PDLC layer bonded to the glass you already own. A wall switch, remote or app moves it between clear and private. No new glass, no new frame, no visible hardware beyond the control. Aura serves Santa Monica from the Los Angeles area, and every project starts with a free estimate.

Serving Santa Monica with switchable smart film

Aura travels to Santa Monica for both residential smart film and commercial smart film work. We provide the film, prepare it to your approved dimensions, install it and connect the control. We do not replace glass or install windows and doors. If your privacy problem can be solved on the glass you have, we are the right call.

Offices, shops and homes near the coast

Santa Monica office space leans on glass. Conference rooms are walled in it, private offices open onto shared floors through it, and reception areas face the sidewalk through it. Smart film lets a meeting room go private for a negotiation and become transparent again when the room empties.

At home the request is more personal. A bedroom that looks onto a walk street. A bathroom window that faces a neighbor a few feet away. A ground-floor living room with sliding doors to the patio. Smart film gives each an instant private setting without blocking the light that made the room worth having.

Common smart film applications in Santa Monica

Conference rooms

Glass-walled meeting rooms switch to frosted for confidential discussions and back to clear when the meeting is over. The wall stays a wall of glass; only its transparency changes.

Glass-fronted offices and reception

Lobby and reception glass stays open to the street by day and goes private after hours or during sensitive visits.

Sliding patio doors

Wide sliders on ground-floor homes and condos are a primary source of light and of exposure. Smart film keeps both under your control.

Bathroom windows

Where a bathroom window sits close to a neighbor, the film replaces permanent frosting with privacy you can turn off when you want the light and the view.

Storefront glass

Retail windows remain a display through opening hours and frost after close, giving the interior privacy without shutters.

Which Aura service fits your glass

For business glass, start with office and conference room smart film or, for glass walls and dividers between workspaces, glass partition smart film. Retail owners should look at storefront and retail smart film. For the house, residential smart film covers windows, doors and interior glass, and bathroom privacy film covers wet-area glass, which we evaluate for moisture first.

How we evaluate glass in Santa Monica

Coastal locations add one thing to our checklist: exposure. Salt air, humidity and direct sun do not rule out smart film, but they shape what we look at. You send photos and a description of where the glass is and what you want it to do. We reply with a free estimate. We then visit, take exact measurements and inspect the glass type, its condition, the edges, the size of each panel and how close it sits to moisture and weather. If the glass passes, the film is prepared to the approved dimensions. On installation day we apply it, wire the control you chose, and run the film through clear and private with you.

Our guide to how smart film works explains what the PDLC layer does when it switches.

Why smart film makes sense for bright, open spaces

The whole point of a glass-walled office or a window that faces the ocean is the light. Every conventional privacy option takes some of that away permanently. Blinds and curtains cover the glass. Etched glass never becomes clear again. Switchable smart film leaves the glass exactly as it is when you want it open and still gives you a private state when you do not. For Santa Monica spaces designed around daylight, that is the right trade.

What Santa Monica clients get from Aura

Film and installation from one source

No coordinating a material supplier with a separate installer. Aura provides the smart film and puts it on the glass.

Evaluation before commitment

We inspect the glass and its surroundings before the film is prepared. Unsuitable panes are flagged, not installed.

Working control, tested on site

Whether it is a wall switch, a remote or an app, the control is connected and demonstrated on the day of installation.

FAQ

Common Questions

How do I schedule an evaluation?

Send the estimate form with photos of the glass, or call (310) 299-2133. We review what you send, give you a free estimate, and arrange a time to measure and inspect the glass in person.

Does being near the ocean affect whether smart film will work?

It affects what we check, not whether the film can be used. During the evaluation we look at moisture, sun exposure and the condition of the glass and its edges. Interior glass is usually straightforward; exposed panes get a closer inspection.

Do you work on both homes and businesses?

Yes. The same switchable film goes onto conference rooms, office partitions and storefronts as onto bedroom windows, sliding doors and bathroom glass. The evaluation and the control setup follow the same path either way.

Is smart film the same thing as smart glass?

No. Smart glass is a new glass unit manufactured with the switchable layer inside it. Smart film is applied to existing glass, so your current panes and frames stay in place. Our smart film vs smart glass guide covers the differences.
